Walking holidays on Exmoor are a wonderful way to enjoy the natural environment of England’s smallest National Park. At Exmoor Forest Inn, we offer specialised self-guided walking holidays throughout the year. We are right in the heart of the Park at Simonsbath, with the coast at Lynton only a few miles away.

Walking holidays Exmoor

The Inn is a days walk from Lynton on the Two Moors Way. Walkers can enjoy comfortable ensuite rooms, packed lunches, a cosy bar with gin menu, wine menu and real ales. We welcome dogs and they can stay in the first floor rooms or in our self catering cottage.

We can provide maps and routes, as well as recommendations on walks. Simonsbath is close to the source of the Exe. Simonsbath is 1,250 feet above sea level in the valley of the River Barle. On the moor north of the village is Exe Head, which is the source of the River Exe. It lies on peaty soils over rocks dating from the mid Devonian (to which this area gave its name) to early Carboniferous periods.

Whether you are an experienced walker or someone who prefers a short stroll, Exmoor National Park is the ideal place to explore the outdoors on foot. With over 1000km of footpaths and bridleways, through oak woodlands, alongside tumbling rivers and across open heather-covered moorland, the variety is endless. Some of the country’s finest long distance routes pass through our National Park, or you can plan your own adventure to explore this unique landscape.
